What it is

ZO Skin Health is a physician-founded medical-grade skincare system developed by Dr Zein Obagi — widely considered the most comprehensive and evidence-based skincare range available. Unlike over-the-counter products that work at a surface level, ZO formulations are designed to create true cellular change: normalising cell function, stimulating natural lipid production, rebalancing melanin activity, and restoring the skin's barrier and resilience from within. At London & Glow, we use ZO Skin Health as the cornerstone of our home-care programmes — prescribing the specific products, concentrations, and sequences that are right for your skin type, hormonal status, and treatment goals.

How hormones shape this treatment

Menopausal skin has unique and often competing demands: it needs barrier repair and hydration, but also active pigmentation management, collagen stimulation, and accelerated cell turnover. Standard skincare ranges rarely address all of these simultaneously without causing sensitivity. ZO Skin Health's layered approach allows us to address each aspect of menopausal skin change in a sequenced, tolerable way — starting with barrier restoration and gradually introducing actives at a pace your skin can handle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — when prescribed and introduced correctly. ZO products are potent, and one of the most common mistakes is using too many actives too quickly. Our prescription approach starts with barrier restoration and tolerance-building before introducing stronger actives, which makes ZO very effective even for sensitive or reactive skin.

Absolutely — in fact, this is how results are maximised. ZO home care extends and maintains the results of in-clinic treatments like microneedling, peels, and skin boosters. We design your home programme to complement your in-clinic schedule and ensure there is no conflict between products and treatments.

Initial skin softening and improvements in tone can appear within two to four weeks. Some patients experience a brief purging period as cell turnover accelerates — this is normal and typically settles within three weeks. Full results from a corrective ZO programme are usually visible at three to six months.

We recommend maintaining a medical-grade programme long-term, as menopausal skin changes continue to evolve. However, once your skin is in a healthy, balanced state, the programme can often be simplified to a smaller number of maintenance products. We reassess your programme at each follow-up appointment.

Please bring a list of all current skincare products to your consultation. ZO programmes are prescribed — we do not sell products without a consultation, as incorrect use can cause unnecessary irritation. When starting, always introduce products one at a time as directed. Expect an initial adaptation period, especially if your skin is not used to medical-grade actives.
