Two women in warm conversation — the connection at the heart of London & Glow

Our story · Edmonton

Two doctors.
One conviction.

London & Glow was built by two doctors who shared a London chapter, a standard of care, and the same quiet frustration: that women navigating menopause deserved so much better.

How it began

A shared chapter in London

Before there was a clinic in Edmonton, there were two doctors in London — working in very different disciplines, arriving at exactly the same conclusion.

Dr. Hemel Mandalia

BDS(Lond.)

I trained in dentistry and facial aesthetics in London, where the standard was set early: no treatment without clinical grounding, no enhancement without genuine artistry. My Harley Street training shaped a philosophy around natural results — using the body’s own processes wherever possible, never chasing trends.

When I moved to Edmonton and began to understand the local aesthetics landscape, I saw the same gap I had noticed in London: women in hormonal transition being offered generic protocols that simply weren’t built for them. I knew what was needed. I also knew I couldn’t build it alone — it needed medical leadership that went far deeper than aesthetics.

Dr. Sundeep Varma

BSc · MUDr · DFSRH · MRCGP

My background bridges three disciplines that rarely meet: Biochemistry from Imperial College London, clinical anatomy as a Senior Lecturer at a medical school, and reproductive and sexual health as a member of the Faculty of Reproductive & Sexual Health. I founded and ran a longevity clinic in Mayfair, London — where the clientele were exacting and the medicine had to be exceptional.

When I arrived in Edmonton and joined Capilano Medical Centre, I saw the same thing I had seen in London: women in perimenopause and beyond receiving aesthetic treatments that ignored everything their hormones were doing to their skin and tissue. The answer required someone willing to bring genuine medical depth to a field that had been operating without it.

The decision

When two London chapters became one Edmonton clinic

What brought Dr. Hemel and Dr. Sunny together was not just a shared city in their past — it was a shared conviction about what physician-led aesthetics should look like for women going through menopause. Not a medspa with a physician on paper. A clinic designed from first principles around the biology of hormonal change.

Dr. Sunny brings the medical directorship: the prescribing authority, the reproductive health specialisation, the GP training, the deep anatomical knowledge. Dr. Hemel leads the clinic and delivers the non-medical cosmetic treatments: the microneedling, the facial protocols, the day-to-day artistry of keeping skin healthy between medical appointments.

Together, they built what neither could have built alone. London & Glow is the result.

Chapter one

Where the standard was set

A medical education built for excellence

Both of our medical professionals trained, practiced, and refined their craft in the United Kingdom — where clinical excellence is not aspirational, it is the baseline. Dr. Hemel built his aesthetic skills through Harley Street training and the most demanding cosmetic dentistry environment in the world. Dr. Sunny studied Biochemistry at Imperial College, lectured anatomy at a UK medical school, and ran a longevity clinic in Mayfair.

London clients have access to every treatment, every practitioner, every trend. The standard expected is not “good enough” — it is exceptional or nothing. That environment shaped how both of us think about aesthetics: every treatment must be medically grounded, deeply personalised, and never gratuitous. Aesthetic medicine is medicine. It should be practised as such.

Running practices in London also gave us something invaluable: a front-row seat to who was walking through the door, and who wasn’t being served.

1 Orchard Street, London W1

The most thorough consultation I've ever had. My doctor listened to everything and explained the science behind every recommendation.

London patient

I finally feel like someone understands what menopause has done to my skin. The results speak for themselves.

London patient

Professional, warm, and genuinely knowledgeable. The clinic felt like a sanctuary, not a sales floor.

London patient

We closed our London doors to bring this standard of care to Edmonton. The same doctors. The same clinical philosophy. A new city.

The moment of clarity

The women who weren’t being served

Again and again, we noticed the same pattern: women in their 40s and 50s coming in frustrated. Not always because they had had bad treatments elsewhere — though sometimes they had — but because the treatments they received had simply been wrong for them.

Menopausal skin behaves differently. It is thinner, more sensitive, more reactive, and changing in ways that younger skin simply isn’t. The collagen loss is accelerating — up to 30% in the first five years after menopause. The fat pads are shifting. The melanin regulation is disrupted. Vaginal and intimate tissues are changing in ways that affect confidence and quality of life. And yet most medspas were applying the same protocols they used on 30-year-olds, on skin and bodies that had fundamentally changed.

The concern wasn’t a lack of skill. It was a lack of understanding — specifically, the medical understanding of what hormones do to skin and tissue over time. The kind of understanding that takes a medical degree, a reproductive health specialisation, and years of clinical practice. We had that understanding. And we began building protocols specifically calibrated for it.

What surprised us was how transformative the difference could be. Not because the treatments were radically different — but because the thinking behind them was. When you understand the biological driver of a change, you treat it differently. More precisely. More effectively. With far fewer adverse outcomes.

Chapter two

The same gap, 7,000 km away

A city that deserved better

When both of us arrived in Edmonton, we began to understand the local aesthetic landscape. Edmonton is a city of remarkable women — capable, accomplished, and significantly underserved by the aesthetic industry when it comes to menopause-specific care.

The gap we had noticed in London existed here too, but in sharper relief. No one was offering menopause-specific aesthetics with genuine physician oversight — the kind that includes prescribing authority, reproductive health expertise, and the ability to integrate HRT with aesthetic protocols. Women going through perimenopause or navigating post-menopausal transitions were being offered either generic treatments, or nothing at all.

We saw the same women we had seen in London. The same frustration. The same sense that the aesthetic industry simply wasn’t built for them. And we made the same decision we had made separately in London: to build the practice we knew they needed — together.

London & Glow opened at the Brewery District in Edmonton — a clinic designed from the ground up around one patient: the woman in hormonal transition who deserves physician-led, menopause-informed care.

Our mission

“Every woman deserves physician-led aesthetics during menopause.”

London & Glow is the practice we wished existed when we were sitting across from those frustrated women in London. It is built on a single conviction: that the menopause transition is not something to be fixed, but a chapter that deserves extraordinary, personalised, medically grounded care.

We are not here to make you look younger. We are here to help you look like yourself — a well-rested, confident, radiant version of yourself — at every stage of your hormonal journey. The treatments we offer are the ones that work for your biology, not borrowed protocols designed for someone else’s skin and someone else’s hormonal reality.

Menopause is one of the most significant biological transitions a woman experiences. It changes your skin, your tissue, and your confidence in specific, documented, addressable ways. You deserve practitioners who understand those ways — not just cosmetically, but medically.

How we work

Our approach

Four values guide every consultation, every treatment plan, and every patient relationship at London & Glow.

01

Medical grounding above all

Every treatment decision is made by a physician, based on clinical evidence and a deep understanding of the biology driving your skin changes. There is no protocol here that wasn't designed with medicine in mind.

02

Deep personalisation

Your hormonal history, your skin's specific response patterns, your stage in the menopause transition — all of it informs what we recommend. There are no standard packages. There is only your plan.

03

Conservative by design

Menopausal skin is thinner, more reactive, and more likely to be over-treated. We start conservatively, observe how your skin responds, and increase intensity only when it has earned that trust. Less is often more.

04

Honest, unhurried consultation

You will never be sold a package in our consultation room. You will be given honest information, time to ask questions, and a recommendation based only on what we genuinely believe will serve you. If a treatment isn't right for you, we'll tell you.

The people behind the practice

Meet our doctors

London & Glow is led by two practitioners whose qualifications, combined, cover the full spectrum of physician-led aesthetics and menopause medicine.

Medical Director

Dr. Sundeep Varma

BSc · MUDr · DFSRH · MRCGP

Dr. Sunny stands at the intersection of three disciplines that are rarely found in a single clinician: the biochemistry of tissue and ageing (BSc, Imperial College London), the clinical depth of a Royal College GP (MRCGP), and a specialised Diploma in Family, Sexual and Reproductive Health (DFSRH) — the qualification that makes him uniquely equipped to address the full picture of what menopause does to a woman’s skin, hormones, and intimate health.

Before Edmonton, Dr. Sunny was a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Anatomy at a UK medical school and a member of the Faculty of Reproductive & Sexual Health. He founded and ran a longevity clinic in Mayfair, London — serving an international clientele for whom precision medicine and exceptional outcomes were non-negotiable. His approach to aesthetic medicine is rooted in the same place as his approach to general medicine: a deep understanding of how the body works, and what happens when that changes.

At London & Glow, Dr. Sunny leads all medical treatments. He prescribes and administers neurotoxin (Botox), dermal fillers, and prescription skincare. He oversees hormone replacement therapy as part of integrated menopause care, and offers intimate wellness treatments for women experiencing the tissue changes that menopause brings. His clinical home is Capilano Medical Centre, where he practises as a GP with a focus on women’s health.

Clinic Director & Co-Founder

Dr. Hemel Mandalia

BDS (Lond.)

Dr. Hemel trained in dentistry at a London university before discovering that his real passion lay not in the teeth, but in the face as a whole — in the artistry of subtle enhancement, the science of skin, and the profound effect that a well-rested, confident appearance has on a person’s quality of life.

His Harley Street training in facial aesthetics and his additional study in aesthetic dentistry at King’s College London gave him the technical foundation. Training other doctors and dentists in facial aesthetic techniques gave him the clinical vocabulary to think about outcomes at a deeper level. His philosophy has always been consistent: harness the body’s own collagen production and natural repair mechanisms wherever possible. Start with the skin. Work with the biology. Never chase a trend.

At London & Glow, Dr. Hemel leads the clinic’s day-to-day operations and delivers the non-medical cosmetic treatments. This includes the microneedling protocols designed specifically for menopausal skin — calibrated for thinner, more reactive tissue — and the bespoke facial treatments that form the foundation of every patient’s skin health plan. He is the first face most patients will see, and the relationship most will maintain between medical appointments.
